Designation: DOC Douro
Grape Varieties: Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Gouveio, and others
Alcohol: 19.5% ABV
Vinification: Made like a red Port, it is fermented for 3 to 4 days with the skins to extract more flavor and richness. The fermentation is then stopped by adding “Aguardente” (wine brandy) at 77% ABV, maintaining the same sugar level as a red Port (approximately 100 g/L).
Characteristics: Amber color. Aromas of caramel and maple syrup, with notes of apricot and orange zest. Velvety, highly aromatic—definitely a new and welcome interpretation of a White Port.
